I’m curious about a propane camp heater! It is advertised as a catalytic heater. I understand how it functions, but do not understand the characteristics required of a heater to be defined a catalytic heater.

A catalyst is a substance that alters the rate of a chemical reaction.

In a catalytic heater, the chemical reaction of burning the propane is slowed to about 60 or 70% of normal, resulting in a relatively safe, flameless source of radiant heat.
